WARNING: Purple Loosestrife Invasion!
Pretty yet dangerous! Purple Loosestrife maybe hazardous to the well-being of your garden and surrounding wetlands. Loosestrife has spread at an alarming rate and it is now on environmentalist's hit list. The plant crowds out, by way of roots and seeds, the areas native plants, such as cattails and grasses that provide food and habitat to numerous fish, mammals, birds, insects, reptiles and amphibians. Each year, thousands of acres of wetlands, marshes, pastures and meadows are invaded by Loosestrife. Please be an environmentally conscious gardener and avoid planting or purchasing plants bearing the name Loosestrife or Lythrum. And pass the word along to all your gardening friends.
